I've talked to a few of you about this, but all right. Question. People come here because they have to fix themselves, right? That's rhetorical. My real question is, do they actually deserve it or is it just because they can be changed?

We don't actually have that answer, do we?

Then, for you guys, is that change even helpful or would you call it harmful to your way of life? Whatever it was before. People make enemies, I know how it is.

[Kylar's around every early morning that the Barge isn't on fire or trying to rhyme and sing with itself. With the ka'kari back at his disposal he has a ton of practicing to do. Today's stunt, he tries to coat a training dummy with the ka'kari. Giving it a thick black metalic armor. He knows better than to attack it with Retribution, actually, the ka'kari warned him of that. There will be questions of Why later.

So he tears at it with a dagger attempting every move he can think of. But the dagger is taking far more damage than the ka'kari, in fact, the metal hasn't even dented. When he's done, he wills the ka'kari back into his skin. There's just one problem.]

You ate the dummy!

Stop it! I'm supposed to be keeping an eye on this stuff from people destroying it. Not destroying it myself.

~You never learn, do you? First, you complain when I don't obey, now you complain when I do. Which will it be next time?~

[He sees the cat and hears the voice, but cat's don't talk. Right? Probably someone's lost pet. So where did the sound come from? The dented and dull dagger he had to practice with is in easy reach. It would stab with enough force, not that it might be necessary. A comforting mental note, if anything.]

~It was not my first choice.~

[Kylar glares at the ka'kari's comment in no particular direction. Because where do you look when something's in your head. It takes him a few more moments, but he eventually squints at the cat before squatting down in front of him, because there is no one here otherwise. That's it. He's lost his mind.]

[ Purple cat-eyes stare up at the boy, almost expectantly. He does wear a collar, but the tag in the shape of a triple moon serves him for a warden item, not an identifier. ]

You are as much to blame as the boy. It's disgraceful.

[So whoever is talking, Kylar approves of them already. He smirks at the comment, the ka'kari on the other hand is less enthused.]

~I am but a blend of metals and magic. I simply am.~

Don't forget "little intelligence."

[The ka'kari curses at him, but then it dawns on Kylar.]

Wait. Hold on. It can hear you?

That is no excuse for bad behavior.

[ There it is: The answer to a question the Cat didn't even have to ask. The thing is obviously sentient. Perhaps it is the metal that gives him the attitude. ]

And you, youngling, would do well not to antagonize those you wish to help you.

~You try being bonded with someone for seven hundred years, perhaps then we can discuss behavior.~

[Kylar still needs a moment to process this, even though the ka'kari seems to be grasping it just fine. Figures.]

That wasn't me, by the way. And I'd hardly say it wished to help.

You bicker like children. You should not be surprised when the result is messy.

[Kylar sits cross-legged on the floor.]

~This is hardly a surprise.~

This isn't that messy.

[ Pounce swats the boy's knee in a light reprimand. ]

And what will you do when there are lives at stake? Bickering does no good when you're dead.

[He glares at the scratch but does nothing. It'll heal fast enough. Thanks, ka'kari.]

I am dead, and it wasn't because of any bickering between us.

[ Don't whine, Pounce has cleaner claws than most cats. ]

Oh, well if that's the case, then there's certainly no reason to worry that it might get you killed in the future.

[ He cleans the paw he swatted Kylar with, for all the world as if he isn't a saucy little ass. ]

[The ka'kari chuckles, whether from the cat cleaning his paw or the comment, who knows.]

It won't.

[Whatever the ka'kari might say, he'll take the backseat while Kylar... works this out. Whatever this is.]

[He glares at the cat for a moment before standing.]

Fair enough.

[ The cat just watches him. Really, Kylar? If he wants to ignore a perfectly good source of advice which can speak to both consciousnesses, it's no skin off Pounce's nose. ]

[mercurialize]

[He would probably just proceed to do the opposite of said advice, so maybe this idiocy is a good thing? Or not. Probably not.

He'll give a wave before walking off.]
